This week we are shining the spotlight on our Stuart Mill project. It’s wonderful to have such a gorgeous home for inspiration when designing an outdoor space. The stunning architecture of this Virginia home gave us the cues to design an outdoor kitchen and gathering space that looks like it was always there.
For the patio, we used stone set in a formal pattern to complement the architecture of the home. We then flanked it with formal, yet modern beds to frame the space. We used a fieldstone and marble top to create the outdoor kitchen which boasts a refrigerator and cabinets along with a gas-fueled grill.
The patio is an extension of the beautiful sun porch and as such expands the entertaining space complete with seating area and barstools along the outdoor kitchen counter. No doubt, there will be many celebrations on this patio!
It was important to us and the clients to create an outdoor space that seemed as though it was part of the home all along, and I think we did just that!
