Spring is here and so are all the beautiful plants that we can have in our home and gardens.

Bees play a crucial role in pollinating plants, including many of the fruits, vegetables, and flowers we rely on for food and aesthetics. Without bees, these plants would struggle to reproduce and grow, resulting in lower crop yields and decreased biodiversity.

In addition to their role in pollination, bees also contribute to the overall health of garden ecosystems. They help to maintain a balance among the different plant and animal species by serving as a food source for many animals, including birds and other insects.

Moreover, the presence of bees in gardens can improve the overall health and vitality of the plants themselves. Bees distribute pollen from flower to flower, which helps to fertilize them and promote healthy growth. They also help to control pest populations, such as aphids and mites, which can damage plants.

How to attract them?

One way to attract bees to your garden is by creating a safe and luxe habitat where they can thrive.

Bees need plants that are rich in pollen and nectar. Providing the right plants such as colorful flowers that are colored purple, blue, white and yellow. Fun fact: Bees have excellent color vision and tend to flock to those colored flowers. Goldenrod, Bee Balm, Black Eyed Susan, Borage, California Poppies, Chive flowers and Lupine are just a few to name.

A bee bath is also another great feature to have in your garden. The term “busy bee” is very true because they tend to work really hard and can become quite thirsty. Filling a shallow bird bath with clean water and stones. The stones will be used as a safe place for the bees to rest and land on while taking in a refreshing drink.

Your bee habitat will be thriving in no time, and they will feel right at home with all the thought and care that you put into it. These simple suggestions will definitely help the bees find work and rest – while helping your garden to flourish.
